Emergency stairwell pressurisation.

Continuous differential pressure control, without over-pressure, within the NBR 14880 range.

How it works

Door opens, pressure drops, the controller responds.

A pressurised stairwell must keep the differential pressure within the standard's range all the time, without jamming doors through over-pressure. That takes continuous control, not on/off.

  • Setpoint and history on screen
  • Real-time ΔP reading
  • Proportional or on/off control
  • Web interface
  • RS485 for BMS
Pressure loop

Pressure returns to range at every door

Keeps the stairwell pressurised within the pressure range required by the standards. When a door opens, pressure drops and the controller acts to restore it.

Drive

Drive defined in the project: STG DRV for a single-phase AC or EC fan, variable frequency drive for three-phase. The CPD is the controller.

  • Door opens and closes: pressure returns to the required range
  • Escape route free of smoke
  • Pressure logged on the display and the web interface for real-time monitoring

The system in place

Air at the base, pressure along the whole stairwell.

  • Fan at the baseSupplies outdoor air into the stair shaft. The stairwell stays at positive pressure relative to the floors.
  • CPD next to the stairwellReads the differential pressure between stairwell and floor with the built-in sensor and modulates the fan to keep the standard’s range.
  • Door opens, pressure returnsWhen a door opens, pressure drops; the controller speeds up the fan and restores the range, with no over-pressure when it closes.
Supervision

Setpoint, history and alarms, at the stairwell and in the BMS

The CPD shows the measured pressure, the setpoint and the history on its display, and alarms over- and under-pressure. Through the web interface, the same panel on any computer or phone; over Modbus RS-485, the data goes to the building's BMS.

  1. 01 · MeasurementΔP between stairwell and floorThe STG CPD measures the differential pressure between stairwell and floor with its built-in sensor, through the two pressure taps.
  2. 02 · ControlFan modulated at the setpointThe controller modulates the pressurisation fan through the compatible drive to hold the setpoint: a door opens, pressure drops and the fan speeds up; the door closes, it returns to normal, with no over-pressure.
  3. 03 · SupervisionAlarms, history and BMSSetpoint, history and over- and under-pressure alarms are on the display and the web interface; over Modbus RS-485 they reach the BMS.
What the system delivers

Pressurised stairwell, free door.

  • Continuous pressure within the standardThe built-in sensor reads ΔP in real time and the controller modulates the fan. No over-pressure that jams doors, no mechanical relief damper.
  • Over- and under-pressure alarmsIf pressure leaves the range, the CPD alarms on the display, on the web interface and in the BMS. The history is logged as evidence.
  • One controller per stairwellThe CPD sits next to the stairwell, with the two pressure taps. Drive and pressurisation panel sized for the project's fan.
